Leave "WE The People" Alone Please.....

As the general election 2009 schedule has been announced, the ruling UPA is busy in putting its Unique Poll Assets forward, through IM (Indian Media), sometimes PM Manmohan Singh & sometimes its MP Rahul Gandhi. Such is the media blitzkreig that they are writing virtually anything to everything presuming that the people of India don't know everything about anything. If you don't believe me, please have a look at it :-

Coming back to the topic what came to my mind almost instantly after reading is this :

"ANY serious illness or injury needs adequate recovery time."
TRUE.
"When Sachin Tendulkar tears a ligament and has to undergo operation, the entire country prays for his recovery. We don’t mind if India loose a few matches in his absence as long as he is back fully fit."
VERY TRUE.
"Recently, the rotator cuff on Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulder packed up and he went under the knife. We waited and hoped and prayed that he will be back better than before. We are ready to give these young men in their 30s and 40s the time they need to recover.
TRUE again.....& here comes the DRONE....

"And indeed we pray that Manmohan Singh is healthy and back at work soon."

....??????? Who are "WE" ? "WE The People of India ??"

.....Nah......must be kidding ;)

How ridiculous it is to seek a kind of similarity/comparison of these two gentlemen (SRK & SRT) with a person, who's undergone second by-pass heart sugery at an age of 77 years in a diabetic body and most importantly who happens to be the Prime Minister of a country whose 60% electorates are below 35 (a reason why those gentlemen in their 30s & 40s are so adorable) !! That too at a time when the country is deep into its worst economic crisis and plagued with a situation when all around its neighbourhood the terror is striking anywhere at will, with blazing guns, grenades and gladiators of their own. If a senior political commentator like Mr. Prabhu Chawala is writing this, there is something wrong with the Indian Media this time round, a "Jaundiced" view of "Yellow" journalism ?

It would be great service to this already over-served nation, if some good sense prevails upon Congress Monarch & its Maharani Ms Sonia Gandhi and in her that wisdom she does not rope in Mr. Manmohan Singh back at the PM's chair even as a "Care-Taker" PM, let alone dreaming of repeating him, something which she and her Monarchy isn't capable of. Ha !

Politics is neither "poly-tricks", like in Bollywood flicks nor entertaining people in cricket with fours and sixes. Similarly, the job of Premier of a country like India is not like walking in to a film premier or acting in a three-hour Bollywood Tamasha or like playing in a 20/50 overs cricket match. It's not an adrinaline-pumping, pulsating, pulverising, gyrating kind of act but a serious business of handling this diverse nation with all intellect, energy, wisdom, will, vision and decision making instinct. To have all these faculties at command, one needs a person who's blessed not only with a brain that can stimulate at every single occasion when needed but also a heart that can work tirelessly to provide the brain a regular supply of pure Oxygen. And for that, as the old adage goes, "A healthy body houses a healthy mind ", what is needed is a person with a sound body, which I am sure no doctor can certify to a man like Dr. Manmohan Singh.

As far as "the groundswell of sympathy for Manmohan Singh (being such that he may well win his first popular election, if he chooses to contest, without ever emerging out of Race Course Road)" is concerned, any politically aware citizen of the India knows that in a country like India what is most important is not winning an election for yourself but what matters the most is whether one can win the election for your party. What is ironical is that such is the state of democracy in India that a person can hold the chair of Prime Minister first and then can prove his popularity afterwards by winning an election for self after completing his full five-year term in power ! Well, if that is the criterion, any slumdog at the "hot seat" can become a millionaire on a given day !!

If Congress and Congressmen can really dole out a precious gift to the ageing & ailing Dr, they must think of biding adieu to him only to let him convalesce at home with his children and grand children around. Let the "over-dozed" nation breathe with some ease in some younger one's care and take some fresh air with someone new at chair.

With these words, I conclude as there is nothing more in the article worth commenting upon, except that the EVMs will be a better commentator on 16th of May 2009.
